NL:Saraswatie wordt vaak geassocieerd met wit en puurheid. Maar voor mij als artiest met een moksi achtergrond bestaat puurheid niet; niets is constant. Dat leerde Henna mij: onze lichamen zijn transformatief en verbonden met natuur en kosmos. Voor mij verschijnt Saraswatie dansend met lotussen in kleuren zo fel als de bloemen in Suriname. Via haar expressies leren we de wereld anders te ervaren.
ENG: Saraswati is often associated with the color white and with purity. But for me, as an artist with a moksi background, purity does not exist; nothing is constant. This is what Henna taught me: our bodies are transformative and connected to nature and the cosmos around us. To me, Saraswati appears dancing with lotuses in colors as vibrant as the flowers in Suriname. Through her expressions, we learn to experience the world differently.
